This is a downloadable resource - once purchased, it will be available for you to download.

Introducing our newly updated social and emotional support paper assessments! These assessments have been specifically designed to help you track the impact of your interventions. Not only will they provide valuable insights for your SLT (Senior Leadership Team) and OFSTED, but they will also demonstrate the positive influence your work has had on the pupils you support.

The accompanying table serves as a comprehensive overview of all the assessments, allowing you to easily analyse the data. Here’s how the information in the table can benefit you:

  1. Identify weak areas: The assessments will reveal areas where the pupils may need additional support. This information will inform your planning as an ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) or learning mentor, ensuring targeted interventions for their specific needs.
  2. Recognise strengths: The assessments will also highlight areas where the pupils excel. As an ELSA or learning mentor, you can use these strengths and incorporate them into your work with the child, further enhancing their progress and well-being.
  3. Measure impact: By comparing pre-assessment and post-assessment scores, you can clearly demonstrate the impact of your support as an ELSA. This evidence showcases the positive changes and progress the pupil has experienced under your guidance.

If you want the EXCEL version please go to this resource. You can find it here

We include these  paper assessments for free with the EXCEL pack.

These assessments were developed with input from many ELSAs along with my own experience of assessing pupils for ELSA intervention.

There is a teacher version and a pupil version.

A person or persons who know the child the best should fill in these forms, NOT the ELSA, unless of course you know them better than anyone else and perhaps work in class with them. It is really important to speak to parents too because sometimes behaviours from home may be interfering with the child at school or there maybe some background information that needs adding to the forms. This may inform your planning. I have added 3 targets to the bottom of each sheet. This will help you decide on what you are going to do with them. You can’t tackle everything at once so do it in stages. Remember there are loads of resources on this website both free and paid (very low cost) which can help you to focus on what the child needs support with.

There are lots of learning objectives in this blog post that might help you find the right resource for the targets you have set.
