Being assertive can be highly beneficial to mental health in various ways. Assertiveness involves expressing your thoughts, feelings, and needs in a respectful and direct manner.
Being assertive will help children with improved communication skills, understanding healthy boundaries, the ability to solve conflicts, healthier relationships and enhanced problem solving skills.
Assertiveness is a skill that can be developed over time with practise and self-awareness. It involves finding a balance between expressing your needs and respecting the needs of others, contributing to overall mental health and well-being.
Children’s mental health week runs from the 5th to 12 February . We also have other free resources on the website for ‘Express yourself’
