Shyness resource pack – Item 527
This is a shyness resource pack requested by one of you lovely ELSAs. It is aimed at KS2 upwards.
This resource pack is to help children who want to be more confident. They want to overcome their shyness because they perhaps feel they are missing out on new things and social situations. This is not a resource for supporting children with selective mutism or children who are happy with how they are. If a pupil brings up in conversation they want to overcome their shyness then this resource may help them. It will help give them the tools to explore their shyness and make targets to achieve their goals.
There are a whole range of emotions that can come from being shy such as nervousness, anxiety, fear, panic, and embarrassment. Children need to be able to deal with these emotions with coping strategies.

- To understand what being shy means
- To identify body signs for feeling shy
- To understand that other emotions might be triggered by being shy

- To identify and use coping strategies for shyness
- To understand feelings after overcoming shyness
