Voyage to Positive Thoughts Game- Item 579
The object of the Voyage to positive thoughts game is to be able to reframe negative thoughts into more positive thoughts by using the thought challenging questions on the board.
Age range for this game would be KS2, KS3 and KS4.
You need
- The game board printed as A3 or bigger
- Card printed, cut out and laminated
- A die
- A counter for each player
To play Voyage to positive thoughts
Each player throws the die and the highest throw goes first. Play continues clockwise around the players.
Throw the die and count that number of clouds. Pick a negative thought card. Question the thought by using the question on the cloud shape. Can the thought be changed to a more positive one? If the player manages to change the thought they can stay on that cloud. If they can’t change the thought then this becomes open for others to answer. The person sitting next to them clockwise can try to change the thought. If they can’t it gets passed to the next person. The person who answers can move one space forward on the board. The original player must move back one space.
The person who reaches the Positive thought island first is the winner. They must throw the exact number on the die to win.
Take every opportunity to discuss the negative thought and prompt with reframing by questioning the pupils. Perhaps some of the other questions on the board would prompt a response?
