Winter Calm Visualisation - Elsa Support

Winter Calm Visualisation

The Winter Calm visualisation is a simple mindfulness exercise designed to help children pause, breathe, and settle their minds during busy school days. Children are guided to imagine a quiet, snowy winter scene, soft snowflakes drifting down, cool fresh air, and a peaceful stillness all around. By focusing on their senses and slow, steady breaths, children can notice tension melting away and a gentle sense of calm spreading through their body.

To extend the calm, children can use the Drift and Drop snowflake. They write or draw any busy or tricky thoughts inside the snowflake, then imagine them gently drifting and dropping to the ground, helping their minds feel lighter and more relaxed. This combination of visualisation and creative expression makes it an ideal tool for classroom or home use whenever children need a mindful pause.

"The worries and fears lapbook has been a great resource. It builds from sizing their worries, understanding control, to strategies to try. It’s lovely that they have something to take home to talk through with other adults."
