These Take What You Need tear-off strips are a simple and positive addition to an ELSA area, classroom, nurture space or wellbeing display. Pupils can choose a message that feels right for them and take it away as a little reminder of something positive.

The pack includes a range of different tear-off strips:

• Take an affirmation

• Take a compliment

The different choices mean pupils can select something that suits what they need at that moment. They might choose an affirmation to encourage themselves, a compliment to brighten their day or a positive intention to take into the day ahead.

This is an easy resource to put up in an area where pupils can access it independently. It can provide a small moment of positivity during a busy school day and encourage children to notice positive thoughts, recognise their own qualities and think about what might help them feel good.

The strips can also be used as a starting point for conversation. An ELSA or practitioner might ask a pupil why they chose a particular message, what it means to them or how they could put their chosen affirmation or intention into practice.
