My memory booklet – item 022
‘My memory booklet’ has been made to help children who have suffered bereavement. It is intended to be done over several sessions perhaps once a week. This will give the child that important one to one support and an opportunity to talk about their feelings. If you are using this in school please make sure you get family permission to work with the child. The booklet could even be sent home so that the child’s carers know exactly what you are doing in between session.
I would suggest doing some of the activities for example – painting a pebble or making a memory box. Children are very resilient and they need to be reassured that it is ok to play and laugh and have fun. Their special person would want them to be happy.
I really hope you enjoy using this booklet and that you and the child you are working with build a trusting relationship where the child will know where to go if they feel particularly sad.
