Fishing for Feelings – Item 795
Fishing for Feelings is a fun, interactive magnetic fishing game designed to help pupils recognise, identify and talk about emotions.
The resource includes 44 fish-shaped feeling clue cards. Attach a paper clip to each fish, make a simple fishing rod using a pencil, string and magnet, and you’re ready to play!
Pupils take turns to fish for a feeling. Once they catch a fish, read the clue together and see if they can work out which feeling it describes. They can then choose the matching feeling word from the separate feeling word cards.
The game can easily be adapted for different ages and abilities. Younger pupils can be given just a few feeling words to choose from, while older or more confident pupils can try to identify the feeling without choices.
The pack includes:
- 44 feeling clue fish
- Matching feeling word cards
- Instructions and ideas for playing the game
As well as playing the fishing game, the cards can be used for talking about feelings, acting out emotions, choosing a feeling or sorting feelings into groups. You could also use the fish for display due to the bright colourful nature of the fish.
A fun way to bring emotional literacy to life during ELSA sessions, small-group work or individual support.
