Inside of the ‘Be happy lapbook’
Be Active Pocket – The Be Active pocket encourages pupils to engage in physical activity, which plays a vital role in boosting happiness. Exercise releases endorphins, the body’s natural ‘feel-good’ chemicals, which help improve mood and reduce stress. Through simple, fun activities like stretching, dancing, or outdoor games, children not only strengthen their bodies but also their mental wellbeing. Being active promotes energy, focus, and a sense of accomplishment, all of which contribute to overall happiness. Pupils can look through the cards and decide how they are going to be more active.
Be Aware pocket – uses the mnemonic H.I.V.E. to guide pupils in practising mindfulness and enhancing their happiness. With H.I.V.E., which stands for Halt, Investigate, Value, and Experience, pupils are encouraged to take a mindful approach to their daily lives. Halt prompts them to pause and breathe, creating a moment of calm. Investigate encourages close observation of their environment, fostering curiosity. Value helps them appreciate the positive aspects and small details they notice. Finally, Experience invites them to fully immerse themselves in the present moment. This mindful practice helps reduce stress, increase self-awareness, and cultivate a greater sense of joy and well-being. Discuss HIVE with your pupils and let them enjoy some present moments by colouring in their bees.
Be Connected Flower – This pocket focuses on the importance of building and maintaining positive relationships with others, which is a key factor in boosting happiness. Feeling connected to friends, family, and the community provides a sense of belonging, reduces loneliness, and encourages mutual support. This can significantly improve emotional well-being. Pupils can write or draw people who they feel connected to on the petals of the flower.
Be Curious Pocket – This pocket is a fantastic way to nurture a sense of wonder and excitement about the world, which can significantly boost happiness. Curiosity encourages exploration, learning, and personal growth, all of which contribute to a more fulfilled and positive mindset. Pupils can read through the curiosity questions and take on a challenge to find out the answer. They can also create their own curiosity questions to find answers to.
Be Kind Bucket – focuses on the importance of kindness, both to ourselves and others. This pocket encourages pupils to explore ways they can show empathy, compassion, and care in their daily lives. Whether through small acts of kindness, like sharing a smile, offering help to a friend, or saying kind words, being kind helps build positive connections and a happier environment. Pupils to write on the water droplets and fill their bucket with kindness.
Be Myself Rainbow – symbolises individuality, with each colour representing a unique trait. Red could stand for energy, orange for creativity, yellow for confidence, green for growth, blue for calmness, indigo for self awareness and violet for imagination. Together, these colours celebrate the diverse qualities that make each person unique, encouraging us to embrace and be proud of who we are. Pupils could either follow these suggestions or write things that make them unique and amazing. Self acceptance is a huge part of being happy!
Back cover
Be Funny Game – This game which is on the back cover of our ‘Be happy lapbook’, uses jokes and laughter to boost happiness by encouraging children to share and enjoy humour together. Laughter is a natural way to reduce stress, lighten the mood, and improve emotional wellbeing. By telling jokes and laughing with others, pupils create positive connections, build confidence, and experience a sense of joy. The game helps them focus on fun, light-hearted moments. This increases feelings of happiness and strengthens social bonds in a playful, relaxed environment.
