How to Use the Cards

  1. Identify Needs:
    • Observe the pupil’s behaviour to determine which cards might be most beneficial at any given time. For example, if a pupil is feeling anxious, a breathing exercise or mindfulness practice might be appropriate.
  2. Introduce Gradually:
    • Start by introducing one or two cards to the pupil, explaining the activity and its benefits. Allow them to become familiar with these techniques before introducing more cards.
  3. Create a Routine:
    • Incorporate the use of these cards into the pupil’s daily routine. This can be done at specific times, such as during transitions between activities or when the pupil feels overwhelmed.
  4. Encourage Self-Selection:
    • Empower pupils to choose the cards they feel will help them the most at any given moment. This promotes self-awareness and encourages active participation in their self-regulation.
  5. Monitor and Adapt:
    • Regularly assess the effectiveness of the cards and be open to making adjustments. Some techniques may be more beneficial at different times or in different situations.
