Pocket sized emotional register

This pocket sized emotional register is very easy to put together. It is perfect for carrying either in your pocket or in the child’s pocket. The six basic emotions are covered – happy, sad, angry, scared, surprised and disgusted. Of course all those feelings have other words associated with them. For example – sad might be miserable, down, blue, gloomy etc. I have purposely not used the vocabulary because I think it is good for children to come up with their own words once choosing a face.

Print the page, cut out the cards and laminate back to back. When you cut out the card from the laminate make sure you leave a good border to seal them together. Laminate the little faces and cut them out. Round off all the corners. Now you need some sticky velcro. I bought mine from ‘The Range’ but lots of places sell it and you can even purchase online. I bought the tape so I have to cut it up but you can buy these sticky dots from Amazon if you prefer. Stick six velcro dots or tape when indicated on the resource. Stick the other part of the velcro to the faces. Attach the faces to the resource. The child can choose a face and stick it on the other side of the resource.
