One Page Profile Neurodiversity
This One Page Profile Neurodiversity is a child-centred, SEND-friendly resource designed to help children and young people share key information about themselves in a simple, accessible way. This was a request by an ELSA for the upcoming neurodiversity week beginning 16th March. It allows pupils to highlight their strengths, explain what helps them feel comfortable and safe, and outline the support strategies that help them learn, cope, and thrive in school. By focusing on pupil voice, individual needs, and practical strategies, this profile encourages teachers, support staff, and parents to understand the child beyond labels or diagnoses, fostering a more inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The resource is particularly suitable for neurodivergent pupils, including those with ADHD, autism, sensory processing differences, or other additional needs, but it can also benefit any child or young person who would like to share their voice and experiences. It is ideal for SEND provision, transition support, pastoral care, and everyday classroom practice.
Two versions are included:
- KS1/2 version: Designed for younger pupils with child-friendly graphics, clear prompts, and space for drawing, colouring, and simple writing, making it easy for children to communicate their needs.
- Teen version: Tailored for older pupils, without the graphics but with clear prompts and space for drawing, colouring and writing.
How to Use:
- Pupil voice first: Allow the child or young person to fill in as much as they can themselves, using writing, drawing, or creative methods.
- Collaborate with adults: For younger children or those needing extra support, teachers or parents can guide them through the sections and scribe if needed.
- Share safely: Completed profiles can be stored in pupil files, displayed in a safe classroom space, or shared with key staff to guide tailored support strategies.
- Review regularly: Update the profile as the child grows, develops new skills, or requires different support approaches.
Using this neurodivergent pupil one-page profile helps schools and settings ensure that children are listened to, understood, and supported in ways that respect their individuality. It is a simple, practical, and SEND-friendly tool to promote positive outcomes, empower pupils, and strengthen child-centred support planning.
