My Place Talking Cards – Children’s Mental Health Week
The My Place Talking Cards – Children’s Mental Health week are designed to support meaningful conversations with children about belonging, safety, and connection. Linked to the Children’s Mental Health Week theme “This Is My Place”, the cards focus on gentle, open-ended questions that help children reflect on where they feel comfortable, supported, and included.
The cards are primarily intended for adult-led discussion and can be used flexibly with individual children, small groups, or whole classes. They do not rely on images, allowing adults to adapt language, pace, and depth to suit the child or group they are working with.
These cards are suitable for use with all children, and work particularly well for children who may struggle to initiate conversation, articulate feelings, or engage with written activities.
Ideal for use in:
- ELSA and pastoral sessions
- Circle time and group discussion
- Check-ins and wellbeing conversations
- Exploring belonging, inclusion, and emotional safety
The questions encourage listening, reflection, and connection, helping adults gain insight into a child’s experiences while reinforcing the message that everyone deserves a place where they feel accepted and valued.
