Help children explore happiness and positivity with this creative Joy Potion Activity! Designed especially for ELSAs and which fits in beautifully for our focus this month on ‘Joyful January‘, this free resource is perfect for encouraging pupils to reflect on what makes them feel joyful and express their emotions in a fun and engaging way.
How it works
- Imagine the ingredients: Children think about all the things that bring them joy—kindness, friendship, laughter, or even a favourite activity.
- Write or draw: They can fill the potion bottle with their ‘ingredients’ by writing or drawing. We include a blank copy and one with lines.
- Get creative: From sprinkles of kindness to spoonfuls of fun, pupils can personalise their potion with colours, patterns, and decorations.
- Reflect and share: Encourage children to describe how their Joy Potion works and share their ideas with others to spread positivity.
Why use the Joy Potion activity?
- Promotes emotional literacy: Helps children identify and articulate what makes them happy.
- Encourages creativity: Combines drawing, writing, and imagination to create a meaningful activity.
