Emotions Sudoku
This week is Maths week so I thought it might be a good idea to do something Maths/Emotions based. This is our Emotions Sudoku. A very simple puzzle but lots of opportunity for discussion.
Benefits of doing puzzles
Puzzles teach children how to think critically and find solutions, enhancing their ability to tackle real-life challenges. By engaging in a process of trial and error, they learn perseverance, patience, and how to approach problems from multiple angles.
Completing a puzzle requires concentration and attention to detail, helping children improve focus. This skill is valuable in educational settings and can also help reduce impulsive behaviour by encouraging them to slow down and think before acting.
Puzzles can promote a sense of calm as children focus intently on the task at hand, which encourages a state of flow and mindfulness. This can reduce stress and anxiety, making puzzles a great way to help children relax and find a mental ‘break.’
By learning that mistakes are part of solving puzzles, children develop resilience. They become more open to trying different approaches and learn that failure is a natural and helpful part of the learning process.
Each puzzle piece or problem solved boosts a child’s sense of accomplishment, which builds self-esteem. Completing a puzzle reinforces the idea that they are capable of achieving goals, which helps strengthen their confidence over time.
