Calming Autumn Alphabet
This calming Autumn alphabet resource is designed to help children switch on their “thinking brain” when they feel anxious or overwhelmed. The activity combines two sheets: a colourful autumn picture prompt filled with seasonal images, and an A–Z of Autumn worksheet.
The picture sheet provides visual ideas to spark children’s thinking. Using it as a guide, children are encouraged to come up with an autumn word for each letter of the alphabet. For example, P = pumpkin, L = leaves, H = hedgehog. Words can be written, drawn, or spoken aloud depending on the child’s needs.

- Can be used one-to-one, in small groups, or as a whole class wellbeing activity.
This resource works best with adult support. The adult introduces the activity, models how to use the picture prompts. They can encourage the child to complete as many letters as they can without pressure to finish the whole alphabet.
